I’m Jess Scanlon — a creative strategist, storyteller, and problem-solver with 15+ years of experience building brands, clarifying identities, and shaping the kind of marketing that actually resonates.

My mission is to co.create meaningful, intentional, vibe-driven brands with founders, teams, and creatives who care about the world they’re building. The “Co.” in J. Scan Co. isn’t a formality — it’s my philosophy. I don’t dictate or prescribe. I collaborate, guide, translate, and build with you.

Over the past decade, I’ve freelanced across industries and disciplines, wearing more hats than I can reasonably list:

content creator, website builder, content strategist, copywriter, brand ambassador, ADHD coach, certified sake professional, social media manager, research moderator, deck designer, messaging strategist, list keeper — and generally, the person who makes things make sense.

Before launching into full-time consulting in March 2020 (thank you, global pandemic), I spent nearly 10 years in the agency world, primarily in strategy roles across brand, content, and social. Today, I combine those strategic roots with an intuitive, human-centered, collaborative approach. For large brands, I provide high-level strategy. For smaller clients, I step into a hybrid role — supporting anything inside the marketing and creative ecosystem.

My academic background includes a BFA in Visual Communications from IADT and an MS in Communication Research from Boston University — a mix that mirrors my work: part art, part science, part intuition.

Beyond work, I’m an avid reader, playlist maker, and wanderer. I live in Las Vegas with my two cats and serve as a part-time caregiver for my grandparents. In five years, I hope to be writing, creating, and consulting from Bookie’s, my co.working frozen yogurt cafe / women’s sports bar / indie romance book store speakeasy.

If you're a thoughtful founder, leader, or creator looking for a collaborative strategist — someone who can translate your ideas into something clear, expressive, and culturally resonant — I’d love to connect.
